Biometric Door Lock Buying Guide

Biometric Door Lock Image

Smart locks are no longer features in a space-age movie wherein in the iris of the eye is used to gain access to a room. Nor is the placing of the open palm on a laser enabled panel just a thing of Hollywood. Arriving on the scene are smart locks sometimes known as biometric locks and there are a few key features to be aware of when shopping for such innovative methods of entry for your home or your business. There are many types of smart locks as well as many methods of entry with today's technological advancements. By reviewing which smart enabled devices fit your needs can you have a better idea of what you are looking for.

Biometric locks are known as fingerprint scanners. With modern smartphone devices in the world today, the fingerprint is often used to unlock the device. Certain high-end cars require such a form of entry as well. Having either possessed a smartphone that requires the fingerprint scan or a vehicle requiring such is all the experience you need to know how to use a biometric lock. With any fingerprint scan device, the first step to do is program your fingerprints into the device by pressing which finger you want to be remembered on the panel at different angles. It is always a wise thing to do both the index fingers and both of the thumbs. With such step being completed, you are now ready to gain access with just a pressing of your finger. Whether this is a choice for your home or your office you are sure to have a secure form of a door lock at the ready. With such a biometric lock you will have the option to still have a standard backup lock in case anything such as electrical wiring or system failure may take place. Surely a step up from the traditional lock and key system.

Radio frequency identification locks are similar to the modern key fob systems that are used in certain cars today. With either a key fob or a card that is chip-enabled. With RFID features can entry be accessed by the holder of such a device. How many times have you come home only to fumble in your purse to find your keys? How about when going into the office early in the morning before sunrise and carrying coffee or a purse or any other luggage? To have to stand and shuffle around for keys is not desirable in itself. This is where radio frequency identification locks become so advantageous because you do not waste time looking for keys or fumbling around in your purse because the RFID enable lock will quickly identify your RFID key fob or card within your wallet or purse. This is truly the choice for those individuals who often have hands full of material or prefer to minimize the time spent in the dark fumbling around for keys. Those are the moments where such a lock becomes so valuable.

Bluetooth-Enabled LOCKS

Bluetooth enabled locks are just what they are, Bluetooth enabled locks. This means with your registered Bluetooth device synced to your lock can you gain access into your home or your office. With such capabilities, this is not often the primary choice but rather seen as a quality backup choice in the event of a primary lock such as a radio frequency identification lock not functioning correctly. Most smartphones are compatible and it doesn't matter if the phone has iOS or Android software.

With the above-mentioned styles, these are the most common means of entry when it comes to smart locks today. Now let's discuss various styles and taste that will fit your budget

For the expensive shopper, the shopper who wants to spend lavishly, there are various digital door locks. With such door locks, they can fit over the handle, provide you with an app that can be downloaded to your smartphone device for you to control the door lock even if you are not at home. This type of lock also comes with a touchscreen that is permanent and very high-tech, sophisticated as you may prefer. This digital door lock has a pin code entrance, a biometric entrance, and an RFID key fob entrance as well. While this lock is not for door knobs this is meant for a simple mode of entry. If your door is made for a doorknob then a digital door lock is not for you.

A rather expensive and sleek design is the smart key lock that allows access via your Android device or your iOS device. With this lock, it is to be installed on the inside of the door so those on the outside cannot tamper with such a lock. Having a keyless design allows for a seamless entry. Keep in mind the outside of the door will still have a deadbolt that can be used with a regular key but this is normally a backup feature. For those customers who prefer their Apple products to control their home, your Apple watch can be used with such a smart key lock design as well. While surely an expensive lock, with an upgrade you can add Apple's home kit app to use your Apple watch to control your smart lock. There are many more features that come with such a choice but the obvious choice is to have a lock that communicates through a secure Bluetooth connection. The devices that you trust will also gain entrance into the home that you trust.

Another semi-expensive smart Lock is the touchscreen deadbolt lock. With this lock, you will hear a loud noise upon entry by anyone. With very key features, the number one pro for such a lock is the different alert modes that will let you know of any activity, tampering, or forced entry into the home or office. With this touchscreen capability, you don't have to worry about the numbers fading away on the high-tech screen. One of the coolest features with a touchscreen deadbolt lock is that on a night where you are forgetful and do not remember the code you can still enter your home with a normal key. While the more expensive locks have an app that can be downloaded onto a smartphone device the touchscreen deadbolt lock does not provide such an opportunity.

For the shopper not looking to spend that much money on a smart lock but are desiring top quality protection for the home or the office there are keyless electronic keypad locks. Although not the traditional lock and key setup, this is obviously the next phase of innovation. While often called a beginner's electronic door lock there are a few pros that make this a great stepping stone for those seeking high tech security. Besides being affordable there is an auto lock feature wherein the handle will lock itself 3 seconds after the entrance is obtained. Being universal, the keyless electronic keypad lock works on a right or left-hand door. While not many more features that make this a top choice, this is surely a low budget starter system. With no Bluetooth connectivity, smart function, and not having as many codes to be stored this is surely a lock that is made for just a few occupants.

No matter what choice is made, when it comes to biometric door locks there are many options in the world today. The consumer would do wise to do adequate research as well as read customer reviews to know if such a lock is the choice to be made. More often than not videos can be watched as well as customer displays as well. With ever-increasing security combined with innovative technology, it is never a better time to advance with the times. Just like cars went from requiring a key to now becoming keyless, the home is obviously the next step in the equation. Whether you have a low budget or a high budget there is a choice for you when it comes to buying a smart lock today. Security has innovated today.
