Slide Scanner Buying Guide

Slide Scanner Image
Picture: Perfection V600 Color Photo, from Epson

Slide scanners are an important part of handling your work, and they could be used for many different purposes. You might want to buy one of these scanners for the office, and you could use the scanner to copy anything that you are working on. You could use the slide scanner in your office, on the move, or in places where you do not have the budget for larger pieces of equipment. There are a few things that you should look at when buying your sliding scanner, and you could carry it with you wherever you go.

1. What Is A Sliding Scanner?

The sliding scanner that you have purchased will help you scan anything that you have regardless of the size of the document or the location where you are scanning. You could use the sliding scanner if you have large documents that you must scan in the field, and you could buy something that folds up and can be stored in its own bag. You could buy something that looks like a long bar scanner, or you could buy a hand scanner that you can use like the barcode scanner at the store.

2. How Do You Use The Sliding Scanner?

A sliding scanner will drag over any document, and it takes a picture of the document as you slowly move over the document. You could have the sliding scanner drag over a really large document, and you might want to use the scanner over multiple sections of a document that you will piece together in the future. You could scan small documents into your computer, and you could use the sliding scanner in low light or bright light. You might want to use a large scanner because you only work with large documents, and you could buy a smaller scanner when you are working with tiny documents like receipts or tags on clothes.

3. Slide Scanners Replace Large Scanners

You do not need to buy a large scanner when you have access to a sliding scanner. You should not purchase a larger scanner when you have a smaller scanner. You like do not have a place for the scanner because you do not have a large enough office space, and you can carry the sliding scanner with you instead of getting back to the office to do all your scanning.

4. Sliding Scanners Connect To Your Device

Slide scanners connect to your device through Bluetooth or a cable that is provided with the device. You could connect the sliding scanner to your device with a USB style cable, or you could use something that connects specifically to your iPhone or Android phone. You might have chosen sliding scanners that will be recognized by your computer, and you could use the scanners with a device that connects via Bluetooth. You must decide how you will use the device most of the time, and you should avoid any scanners that do not connect in the way that you prefer. You do not need a cable in all cases, but you might want a cable just to be sure.

5. The Bulb

The bulb in your sliding scanner is so advanced that you can replace it yourself if it ever goes out. This is a great thing for you as the user because you are no longer worried about the scanner dying. You can replace parts in the scanner, and you can keep it going for years without almost no work at all. Someone who wants to replace the bulb could keep spares because the replacement process takes moments. You must find a scanner that uses the bulb you think will offer the best images, and you might want to have a few bulbs to bring along if you think that you might blow out the bulb from scanning all day every day.

6. The Battery

The battery in the scanner can be replaced at any time, and it could be rechargeable. You might leave your scanner plugged in to charge until you are ready to use it again, and you might use it every day in the field without worrying about the scanner turning off at the wrong time. You need simple controls on the scanner that allow you to see the battery levels, and you must see the display of the scanner that shows you how much it has charged. You might buy spares to carry with you when you are working in the field, and you could use the batteries that you carried along. You must have a charger kit, or you could use the charger kit in the office to keep it running.

7. The Functions

You must have a power switch and scan button on the scanner that are easy to read. You must have an option to scan for a certain amount of time, or you could leave the scanner on while scanning many documents. If the scanner has its own software, it can separate the documents for you when the scanning is done. You might want to have a scanner that will shut off automatically if it has been left for so long, and you must use a scanner that will let you know when the battery is running down. These little things make it much easier for you to use the scanner when you are on the move every day.

8. The Quality

You must choose a sliding scanner that will give you better quality as you scan across each document. You must read reviews to find out what can be done with these scanners, and you will run across the reviews that tell you which scanners appear to work the best. You will find that the scanners are much easier to use when you are having trouble with the pictures. You might choose a scanner that works well with pictures, or you might find one that works well with documents.

9. Who Needs A Sliding Scanner?

A sliding scanner is something that you must use to get documents onto your device as quickly as possible. You might spend your day dealing with documents that you must compile, or you might use the sliding scanner to record all the business that you have done with someone in the field. There are many people who want to use a sliding scanner because they are reviewing documents with their clients, and they might want to use the sliding scanner with the people who need to keep their copy of the documents that were used. People who do research need sliding scanners because they must copy the documents they have seen, and it is wise for you to choose a scanner that you know you can carry into any office or government building.

10. The Carrying Case

The carrying case that you get for the scanner helps protect all the functions of the scanner, the bulb, and the buttons. You must use one of these cases to protect your investment because you cannot afford to replace it over and over. Someone who is using the correct carrying case should remember that they can get the best results if they are using a case that fits into their bag or briefcase.

11. Conclusion

The sliding scanner that you have purchase must meet all the criteria above. You will find that you could use these sliding scanners at any time, and they will connect to any device that you like. You might choose something that is very long, or you could purchase a small scanner that works like the scanner in a store. You are given a clean image of anything you have scanned, and you can save this eimages to any device that you like. You might save to your phone, tablet, or computer as you work in your office or on the road.
