Will there be more goals with the proposed daylight offside rule?

by a guest · 1 year ago
FIFA has trialed the proposed daylight offside rule the past 2-3 years in several different leagues in Italy, Holland and Sweden. Both in men and women's football. Preliminary fan gathered data from two of these trials show that goal was up by 0.35 per match in Serie A U18 League and 0.74 per match in Sweden F19 League. Historical data also bode well for more goals. IFAB in 1925 changed the offside rule from third-to-last defending player to second-to-last defending player. The result was an increase of 0.91 goal per match in the English Football League. 2.54 goal per match in 1924-25 to 3.45 goal per match in 1925-26.
