I believe that these two values in tandem best represents the resilience of the citizens of Norwich. Additionally, the two colors are the exact colors found on the city’s website, creating a new symbol that can easily co-exist with the existing designs of city items. The six pointed star represents the brightness of the city amongst New York, and the nation alike. The six points represent the six different wards of Norwich. The other stripes in gold dash across the flag to make the shape of an “N” for Norwich.

With three simple colors, it describes the geography and the beauty of the Norwich area. Nestled in the Chenango River Valley, one can see the rolling hills of the valley tops alongside the flowing river. The sun rising behind the valley represents the city of Norwich’s ever improving state, along with a bright future that beholds the city. The rays represent the wide-reaching influence over many other local towns and serve to occupy any unused space that would bore the overall design. This flag upholds all the standard design principles of a flag. Solid colors, smooth lines, and no complex insignias or seals.
