Who Should Win?

With the second match-up of the day, we are reintroduced to last year's March Species Madness runner-up, the Great Horned Owl. Though it came up short against the Painted Turtle, there's no denying the respect that this beautiful creature of the night commands. Its silent flight, its wizened appearance (though its eyes are much larger than its actual brain) and its deep hooting voice, everybody is excited to catch a glimpse of these creatures in the wild (learn more about them here: https://www.ontwf.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/GreatHornedOwl.pdf) Facing off against them is the Wild Turkey, itself a very recognizable bird. These birds can surprise you. They are confident flyers capable of reaching speeds of 100 km/h, and they too have excellent eyesight. These creatures were threatened with extinction in the 19th century due to habitat loss and hunting, but conservation efforts have helped the species rebound.
