Emotional neglect (ex. Nobody to talk to, nobody asked you questions, nobody was interested in your world or it was unsafe to bring them into your world, never having a caregiver be personable and tell you about their life and help to guide you through yours, nobody to help you process your feelings and reactions in a safe and healthy way, etc.)

Caregivers mocking affection

Caregivers rarely/never holding you

Caregivers making degrading, humiliating, babying comments towards you

Caregivers criticizing or making fun of your appearance

Caregivers criticizing or laughing at or making derogatory comments towards others (ex. Making fun of others bodies and attaching it to their worth)

Being regularly verbally abused (ex. If you left a cup on the table as a young kid, were you getting shouted at at length for being a worthless spoiled ungrateful brat that is undeserving of the things they have and people are ashamed to be seen with you/see your face)

Physical neglect (especially when it comes to things regarding body—grooming, menstrual products, deodorant, fitting clothes, a bra, etc.)

Religious upbringing/Purity Culture/abstinence only education

Being around peers that confirm the world is just like your caregivers (ex. A boy making fun of a girl to the whole school because she was a bad kisser)

Bullying/peers making fun of you or regarding you as laughable/a joke

Not having a helpful, consistent support system to make up for lack of caregiver support
