For our next battle, we have the Bombardier Beetle (the Caribidae Family) facing off against the Ground Mantid (Litaneutria minor), representing the Mantises of Canada. The Ground Mantid is the only species of Mantis native to Canada (found in southern BC). The Bombardier Beetle can fly, but it takes a lot of effort to get off the ground, which is why they're trying to sneak into the Mammals/Walking Insects bracket of this competition. The winner goes on to face the Six-spotted tiger beetle, but only depending on your vote, so vote now!
The first of our "First Four" wildcard qualifying matches pits the Northern Flying Squirrel against the Striped Skunk. Who moves on to face the series 2023's winner of the Mammal/Walking Insect Bracket of our inter-species competition? Will our flying squirrels' air superiority prevail? Or does the skunk's nosy defenses hold out for the win? You decide, so vote now!
