Accelerant. Use it to capture someone important more quickly by combining it with a necklace.

Secret weapon: if you can get someone to look at the orb for a few moments they are ensnared. It won’t instantly put them on path to capture like a necklace, but it definitely shifts the balance of power.

Subtle: while needing to ponder an orb for hours at a time isn’t what most people consider normal behavior, the target can then get up and move around without any markers of their impending subjugation. In a highly magic literate setting that is worth more than gold.

Rewrite: it starts slow, but it can far more seamlessly alter someone’s entire personality and worldview; even with mind runes, a fully powered entrancement orb will do the job a bit better.

Interrogation: while it takes a long time to fully control someone, it can get information out of them almost instantly. After that, eh, we will see.
