How to deal with Kusai? Gil has plans to use the Gauntlet strategically for more than one of these.

by Jerynboe ·
Heroic Charge- Launch ourselves dick first into the fray. Obviously we’d use strategy as best we can to make this not outright stupid, but as Gil said this is the dangerous but quick option. We will need to actively talk the Chad brigade that is the Knights of the Round Table out of this one if we don’t do it.

Insurance Premium - It seems that Kusai values credits more than he values waifus. This means that, ironically, the most efficient way to make sure that at least Ragnell is safe would be for Gil to give Lucan a pile of credits in return for Hellawes. Or someone else, but let’s be real. He’s choosing Hellawes. Of course to get 10 credits for that, Gil will need to sell Balin.

IP: Balin card swap - Reincarnate Balin as a woman instead of releasing him with amnesia, and nobody tell Nimue. We still get the stupidly dangerous skull and the Minsc card. We could even immediately use the card on Fem-Balin to get him into the fight again immediately.

IP: Nimue - Sell Nimue instead of Balin, allowing us to bring him along without much trouble after the bout. Pairs well with Draw Him Out.

IP: Echidna - Dear lord is this dragon a giant pain in the ass to deal with, powerful or no. She’s HUGE. Also grants a lure that makes Gil acting as a heroic savior make women saved swoon much more than usual.

Encirclement - Similar to heroic charge, but instead of walking right into the castle, we stand around outside of it, hurling insults at Kusai until he comes out and fights us in conditions where our numbers have more value. Slightly more acceptable.

Sit Tight- Fuck them wives and mothers. Their families are dead anyway and they’ll probably just get sold so Kusai can buy another hot borderline background character like Cindy so it’s not even like they’ll suffer long. (Knights glare at Gil)

Draw him out - Sell Nimue. (Waits for booing to stop) Then we use the tantric rod we get for doing that in order to snipe capture Kusai. Obviously we won’t get to keep him even if we pull it off, but Capture based losses cost the invader extra since it’s considered a more complete defeat. Since we don’t have enough sympathetic links to really do this efficiently, he’s going to sense the ritual starting and try to stop us by whatever means he might still have available. Luckily there’s an army in the way.

It’s a Trap! - fake a retreat to the castle of King Silverhand, while “leaving behind” Cindy and Ginny. Rosa will be able to detect their location, and the castle will appear abandoned, but in fact they will have left behind a small elite unit with a plan to specifically slaughter Kusai and his team as efficiently as possible. Culhwch has a wizard who can cast mass invisibility on staff because of course he does, so it might even work against Hinata. Maybe.

Negotiation - Gil has prisoners and reason to believe at least one of them is marginally useful to Kusai. Contact the fat fuck and offer to give back Ginny and Cindy if Kusai does something in return. Exactly what exchange is negotiated is secondary to luring some or all of Kusai’s people into a disadvantageous position for the handoff. Any actual payoff extracted from him is a handy side effect.

Honest Negotiation - Actually do a good faith exchange of prisoners for uncaptured prisoners, then rush them to the castle of King Silverhand. This is the only way, and I do mean the only way, that the knights of the round table won’t be PISSED at any reaction they see as passive or reactive. Also much, much less likely to result in an opportunity for Gil to manage any opportunistic war profiteering.
