In universe the danger is real, but how real is it out here?

Crushing defeat: occasionally it is possible to just straight up lose any character, secret, or non-company asset. Body defense canonically gives what amounts to a one-up to each member of the retinue and we are looking at getting a resurrection mill, but anything and anyone could be lost unless the company specifically says otherwise. Isekai porn protagonists have had it too good for too long!

Cautious claimant: as above, but Erich also becomes more cautious with the lives of his followers. Kitting out literally everyone with potions and Eva’s talismans, putting off and avoiding fights that seem risky, keeping retinue members who don’t have an emergency full heal from body defense far from the front lines, etc. Basically Erich will expend great effort and resources on manufacturing plot armor. No names will likely still die, but I’m at peace with that already.

Merely a Setback: Erich can be defeated, but anyone we care about is incredibly likely to escape with their skin intact and no lasting harm done. Especially once resurrection is in play. That said, the actions Erich takes to preserve his people will be given less narrative weight.

Fully clad in the armor of plot: you are not George RR Martin, you write too fast. I’m not here on a smut website to read about an isekai protagonist NOT winning constantly. Any defeat will be short term and followed up with a crushing counterattack.
