Alongside the forces of King Arthur, using largely conventional tactics. Arthur has a bunch of badasses at his disposal in addition to swarms of disposable chaff, and this is probably the most obvious tactically sound option

Alongside Lucan’s Black Ops team. Lucan wouldn’t call the posse of barely reformed Chivalric Romance antagonists in his team “disposable,” but he definitely expects them to risk life and limb in penance for their crimes. Lucan is fully willing to loan Gil Hellawes, Breuse the Pitiless, and a bunch of glorified bandits to do whatever sneaky shit he has in mind.

Alongside the big names. Arthur has mobilized tha boys, and is consolidating his forces right here. Gil could encourage the big name knights, every one of which has fought at least one dragon as a glorified random encounter, into a single spearhead that might be able to take Kusai’s team directly.

In isolation. Gil trusts Lucan and Arthur to manage the defense, Gil and his retinue will even the odds outside of his line of sight.

Clash! Attempt to identify Kusai and take him down as quickly and efficiently as possible. High risk, high reward.

All in: The tier of commitment beyond Clash, this is where we drop everything and bum rush Kusai with everything we have immediately, using all available resources and elite troops to ice the fucker. Full on death or glory.

Peel the Onion: Kusai has a large retinue. Try to take down his supporters opportunistically.

Gather information: We know dick all about Kusai’s retinue or personal abilities. First contact isn’t a great place to go all in. Try to learn what we can by whatever means necessary/available

Skirmish: We have a fucking dragon. Ride out to meet the enemy, with no intention of a proper smack down. This is more dangerous than gather information on its own, but we are a lot more likely to get useful information before proper first contact.

Parry and Riposte: Start by playing defense, keeping an eye out for opportunities, and then strike back with a vengeance.

Resource denial: Olwen is really obviously the target. See if we can convince her to join Gil or Lucan’s retinue; if she does, she can’t be captured by another player unless Kusai wins the whole bout and takes her as his earnings. The fact Gil will get the resale value of a Big Name of indeterminate tier for holding her in trust would just be a happy coincidence. Definitely not the main reason to bring this up. Yep.

Magical Bullshit: Arthurian Magic is… weird. However a quirk of it that may work in our favor is that a lot of it seems to be primarily resisted by exhibiting virtue. We might be able to disable, distract, isolate, or otherwise fuck with Kusai’s retinue with the help of Nimue, Hellawes, and maybe Merlin.

Uriah Gambit: Nimue is likely to accept this proposal and lend her full magical support. Bring Balin to this battlefield with the explicit intent of throwing him into the fray against Kusai. He’s a top tier combatant, but he’s just one guy. Even with proper support, there’s a real chance of his death. Without it, Nimue will get exactly what she wanted. More pragmatically, it’s getting a top 10 all time knightly champion into the fight.
